Born December 13, 1969 in Pskov, Soviet Union, Russia, he is currently the general manager of HC CSKA Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Fedorov is the older brother of Vancouver Canucks player Fedor Fedorov. Sergei was the first Russian to win the Hart Trophy as 1993-94 regular season MVP and has won three Stanley Cups with the Red Wings (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02). Sergei made headlines in July of 1990 when he slipped away from the Soviet National Hockey team after an exhibition game in Portland, Oregon, on the way to the Goodwill Games in Seattle, Washington, and signed with the Detroit Red Wings. Sergei reportedly spent nearly every day at the bedside of his close friend and former Red Wing Vladimir Konstantinov, who was injured in a car accident after the Wings’ ’97 Cup win. Reports say that Konstantinov finally pulled out of his coma at the sound of his friend’s voice. Sergei is also reportedly a close friend with singer/songwriter Kid Rock and Sergei says he married tennis star Anna Kournikova in a secret ceremony in 2001 and they were divorced shortly thereafter. Kournikova has never confirmed this to the public to date. Sergei has also been romantically linked to actress Tara Reid (in 2004).
